Learning C++: jump straight into a project or finish a book first?

Hey! I know some basic C++ and have been reading the lessons on learncpp.com (up to chapter 11). I use c++ in school too but at a very basic level and I don’t feel like I’m learning much through the school. Do you guys recommend I keep reading books and learning guides or start doing a project in the language? I’m thinking either some opencv program, or a 2d basic game/physics engine with OpenGL. Let me know what you think!! Thanks
